In recent
years, the development of new and
existing space has received
well-deserved attention—yet it is the
main building, our holy place, that
remains limited in scope and shows wear.
In order to strive for the greatest
success in each aspect of our Parish
Mission, now is the time to upgrade our
church, for today and for the future.
A Goal
We Can Achieve
Based on the results of our
feasibility study, while we cannot build
an entirely new church facility, we
can revitalize our church, enlarge it,
and beautify it for our parishioners
now to enjoy—and to enhance the worship
of future generations.
Unique
Artifacts, Perfect Timing
In June of 2008, religious antiques and
artifacts from Most Blessed Sacrament
Parish in Southwest Philadelphia became
available. Monsignor Marine and several
Parish representatives viewed these
items, and noted that their uniqueness,
as well as the timing, seemed to
coincide with the upcoming needs of
Saint Bede Church. After consulting with
the Pastoral Council, the Parish
leadership reserved these artifacts for
purchase.

Those
artifacts, with the consultation of
University of Notre Dame Associate
Professor of Architecture Duncan Stroik,
have enabled us to create a plan that
will
raise our present church to a higher
level of beauty and dignity befitting
the house of God.
We have
developed an achievable goal of
revitalization for our church,
including:
• A new marble crucifix, tabernacle, and
baldachino
• Installation of traditional stained
glass windows in Sanctuary and Sacristy
• New marble Altar of Sacrifice with
sculpted DaVinci’s Last Supper
• New marble Ambo (Pulpit); Baptistery;
original oil painted Stations of the
Cross
• Marble side altars with life-size
marble statuary of the Sacred Heart and
BVM
• Additional seating
• An elevator
• 2 large Sacristies
• A connecting road in front of the
church for easy drop-off
Complete
renderings are available at the rectory.
